Vail Ski Resort:

If you're a fan of stunning views, Vail Ski Resort is the perfect choice for you. Spanning over 5,200 acres of skiable terrain, the resort offers over 190 trails for all skill levels, 31 lifts, and three parks that cater to snowboarding enthusiasts. The amenities include excellent restaurants, luxury lodging, and a vast network of retail shops. Vail Ski Resort is a great choice for families and groups of friends. Plus, it’s right off I-70!

Steamboat Ski Resort:

Located in northwest Colorado, Steamboat Ski Resort is an excellent resort known for its terrific champagne powder snow. With 165 trails, 18 lifts, and over 2,965 skiable acres, the resort provides a wide range of skiing options suitable for everyone. The resort offers fun activities for non-skiers such as the mountain coaster or snow tubing. The lovely mountain town is also a great choice for après-ski and entertainment. Fun fact, visit in the Summer is great too as they have the Yampa River right in town which makes for a great day of fishing, paddling, or just floating.

Breckenridge Ski Resort:

When it comes to affordability(relatively speaking because this is Colorado, afterall), Breckenridge Ski Resort takes the cake. With over 3,000 skiable acres, 34 lifts, 187 trails, five parks, and four mountains, it's hard to beat this resort. The town is renowned for its lively après-ski nightlife and excellent dining options. The resort offers activities and events for all winter vacationers. The views don’t disappoint either.

Aspen Snowmass:

Aspen Snowmass is a destination for luxury skiing. Four mountains offer over 5,500 acres of skiable terrain, 47 lifts, and over 330 trails, whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or expert. The resort offers world-class ski schools, top-notch restaurants, and a diverse range of accommodations. Yet, Aspen Snowmass is much more than skiing with excellent activities such as snow biking, snowmobiling, and ice skating. You probably won’t run into the likes of Tom Cruise or Taylor Swift while on vacation but you never know.

Telluride Ski Resort:

Telluride Ski Resort offers the perfect blending of natural beauty with a small local town. With over 2,000 skiable acres, 148 trails, and 18 lifts, the resort offers snowboarders and skiers some incredible views. The resort's nightlife ranges from trendy and sophisticated to more relaxed, offering a wide range of family-friendly activities.

Alternative spots:

Loveland:

Loveland is probably the closest ski destination to the Front Range Metro as you’ll find it just at the top of I70 so you don’t even need to mess with driving through the tunnel or up over Loveland Pass.

Arapahoe Basin:

A-Basin as the locals know it is an incredible spot if you’ve got the legs and the lungs to bomb down these steep high elevation runs. A-basin also stays open later than nearly everyone else. It’s not uncommon to be putting in laps in July.

The Big Bad Backcountry:

Skip the crowd and earn your turns. Why not venture into the backcountry for some ski mountaineering. DISCLAIMER: We can think of a LOT of reasons to not going into the backcountry such as avalanche danger and general lack of backcountry skills. Maybe this is the year you finally take that AIRE course or hire some guides?

Colorado is a winter bliss destination, with an extensive range of skiing options. Each resort offers its unique charm and activities, making it easy to choose the one that suits you and your loved ones. Each resort is easily accessible and will offer you a fantastic skiing experience that you'll remember for a lifetime. Whatever resort you choose, make sure to pack all the necessary gear and prepare for chilly weather. We hope you enjoyed our top picks for skiing in Colorado and will have a great time exploring these stunning resorts. Happy skiing!
